Studio Lighting Naturally - the Book by Jodie Holstein-Otte
This photography book, designed and written by photographer, Jodie Otte, is for the natural-light photographer at heart who wants to learn how to achieve a natural-looking artificial lighting in a simplistic way without overwhelming with all the technicalities.
Jodie has always gravitated toward soft beautiful natural lighting, but found over the years that the locations are not always ideal, and weather does not always cooperate. Feeling limited, she set out to develop her own unique artificial soft lighting techniques which opened doors and allowed her business to thrive with no limits.
Due to her time constraints and lengthy waitlist for more photography workshops, Jodie has released this book with extras for purchase by the public.

FAQs
Why are these books so expensive? I have worked very hard to develop my business and style over the years, and put a lot of time into learning exactly what works for my eye. Because I am constantly asked to share information, I don't have the time to answer every question that comes my way while balancing my business and family life as well. I also have a very large waiting list for classes, workshops, and one on one mentoring, and felt this was a way of getting some of the same information that I teach, since my studio is too busy to accommodate more teaching days throughout the year. This is also my personal information which has greatly attributed to my success in this industry, I had to price accordingly.
What if I would rather learn in person? We do have a workshop http://www.jodieotte.com/mentoring.htm, and you are welcome to come join us for one. The book is included in the workshop.
How long does it take for me to receive this book? The book will be shipped usually within 10 business days of order by United States Postal Service Priority Mail. If you are concerned whether or not this book is currently in stock, please email jodieotte@verizon.net before placing your order. We try to keep stocked up at all times. Please understand, orders placed outside of the United States take some time to go through customs.
I am a natural light photographer but want to learn studio lighting. Is this book for me? Yes, this book is focused on learning how to use studio lighting in a simple easy-to-understand way.
I have used studio lighting for years, and I am happy with my results. Is this book for me? If you are happy with your lighting, and you know how to do flat lighting to dramatic lighting, I wouldn't recommend this book. If you are wanting to know exactly what I do for my lighting, then this book would tell you exactly what I do.
Review of Studio Lighting Naturally:
I am not new to studio lighting, but I admire Jodie Otte's photography, and her business accomplishments, so I bought the book so that I could look at the topic of lighting from Jodie Otte's point of view. I also wanted to see what Photoshop techniques she uses.
Jodie gives an excellent and thorough description of her book on her website. I've purchased my share of products that didn't live up to their promises, so I really appreciate the fact that Jodie's book lives up to everything she said it would.
After placing my order, I received the book very quickly. Jodie's writing style is easy to understand, thorough, and complete. She also includes all of the diagrams you need to be able to learn or replicate her lighting style for many types of portraits. I originally learned studio lighting a much more difficult way, which included lots of frustration, and a lot of disappointing results before I finally got the hang of it. My own photography could have been at the level I wanted it to be much sooner if I'd had this book years ago, saving me much frustration.
Jodie's book teaches you exactly what you need to know to create beautiful images of pregnancy, newborns, and children with studio lighting, and how to simply retouch those images with Photoshop. Her book isn't filled with any useless fluff just to fill up pages; it is all informative and useful information.
I have purchased dozens of photography books over the last 10 years, and Jodie Otte's book is by far my favorite. I know the price can seem high for a book, but it's much less expensive than many photography seminars and workshops, or a single photography class in college. Jodie's book teaches more than I ever learned in any single workshop, seminar or class. If you are looking for a pain free way to learn studio lighting of pregnancy, newborns, and children, I highly recommend Jodie's book.
